The promise of such large sums of money can distract people looking to quickly augment their income – especially in financially unstable times such as the American economy today.

Second, websites that utilize salacious advertisements to get your attention probably aren't the highest quality.

Many scam sites will litter their pages with pictures of beautiful women in bikinis, fast cars fresh from the car wash, and huge houses a single maid couldn't hope to maintain.

These pictures are extreme exaggerations of anything you can expect from online business opportunities.

While many people make a good living from legitimate companies, few make the millions of dollars these websites tout to make their joining fees seem too small in comparison.

The higher the cost to join, the greater the exaggeration of wealth must be to make joining fees seem nominal. If you see this relationship, you should keep looking for your next job.

Third, web companies that ask for personal information without personal contact shouldn't be trusted.

Before you join any company, you should speak with and get to know those people who will benefit from your sales, because you need to benefit from their training and advice.

Any company that promises to deliver cash machines without any personal contact should be ruled a scam.

These three signs can help you spot a scam, but how can you spot the real thing?

You can spot a great business opportunity in a company that provides personal contacts, in people who are willing to speak with you until you are comfortable with their offer, and in products you are familiar with and track records that speak for themselves. These are signs you won't see in a business opportunity scam.
