DON'T FOLLOW YOUR PASSIONS

Passion for Work.

Did I surprise you with that subject line?

Let me explain.

I'm a faithful person, and I recently saw an Instagram post from Steven Furtick, an American pastor.

He used the same headline you read for the subject line of this article.

I always tell people to find something they're passionate about and build a business around that.

However, that one-minute post might have just changed my perspective.

A passion is something we like to do and that we feel we're good at.

Often, we use our passions to escape the reality of our situations.

Or we may just like doing things for fun or as a pastime, and we confuse those for passions.

  • But building a business is tough.
  • Building a business requires time and effort.
  • Building a business will have its ups and its downs.
  • Building a business will require sacrificing a lot to make it work.

If we build a business around these passions, we won't have enough willpower to see things through when things get tough.

Yeah, when you first start, things will align looking forward.

However, as you go through your journey, you will quickly realize that there will be bumps along the road.

Some will be minor, while others will make you think that you should give up.

So what should you do?

  • Go deeper into your "Why".
  • Instead of thinking about your passions, think about your purpose
  • What's the purpose of doing what you're doing now?
  • What's the purpose of wanting to build an online business?
  • What's the purpose of you being on this earth?

As you see, things can get pretty deep mentally when you start thinking about the answers to these questions.

However, if you're able to sit down and reflect on these answers... and if you can really figure out what your PURPOSE is, those passions you thought you had might not even be aligned with your ultimate life's vision.

On the other hand, if you see that your current passions ARE aligned with your PURPOSE, then you have a strong foundation to build a long-term and sustainable business.

  • Your purpose will give you the energy to push through difficult times.
  • Your purpose will re-ignite your passions and open new opportunities as you move forward.

I hope you see the perspective switch I got.

Instead of focusing on how you can turn your passions into a business, focus on how you can turn your purpose into a business.

  • And then watch how much more energized you will wake up with every day.
  • And then see how much progress you will make in a short period of time.
  • And then see how much more engaged and responsive your community will be.

Then, one day, you'll wake up thinking, "how did I make ALL this happen when I was once lost?"

You'll be amazed by what you can achieve once you start living for your purpose.
